Doin' the Loop

Albeit a bit overcast, Sunday was a another fair weather day here in Ucluelet (unseasonable for this time of year, which is more often rain and fog). We decided to redo the loop portion of Wild Pacific Tral (WPT), a 2.6 km loop that skirts the tip of the peninsula and is home to the Amphrite Lighthouse.

The trail is one of the best I've ever seen, both for its maintenance, and it's spectacular, inviting routes, with lots of benches tucked cunningly away, just off the trail, to allow one to enjoy the views with little interruption.

The rocky headlands here are simply breathtaking and each turn is revalation. One can see not just the immediate coastline but also quite far out to sea, making this trail perfect for whale watching. We saw one just off the lighthouse on our last visit here before the move.

One of the things that prompted us to stay on the west coast (please don't hold it against us, but we're from Toronto originally), was the wonder of the rainforest and the grandeur and power of the sea. The environment here is astonishingly beautiful and just constantly pulls the eye!

Even the very wood and trees seem sculpted into fantastical shapes and forms.

Magical, and we have even more of the trail yet to discover!
